One of the wisest men that ever lived, King Solomon described ants as one of four things that are little but extremely wise. He encouraged able-bodied men to go and learn the ‘Ant’s Way’. Many of those men would have considered it as an insult. But truly, there are a few life lessons we can learn from ants.
…Creature of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;…Ant, as frail as they are, get plenty of food in the winter..” (Proverbs 30)
1.They are small and look insignificant in status, but extremely wise. Your status or background should not be a limit when developing your mind. Alfred Lord Tennyson said, “Sometimes the heart sees what’s invisible to the eye.”
#Train and develop your mind.
2. They understand times and seasons. You can’t fight seasons. You can only prepare and make every season of life work to your advantage and not your detriment. No excuse can hold water for your bad performance in any season. What you do in one season will affect the other season that follows. Ant thinks winter all summer and summer all winter.
#Think winter all summer and summer all winter. Always plan ahead, be forward thinking and stay positive
3. They do not concentrate on their weaknesses or disadvantages; rather, they concentrate on what works for them. There are so many things you can’t change about yourself. So wake up and concentrate on what you can change, that thing that will compensate for those unchangeable things.
#Don’t allow what you can’t do stop what you can do.
4. #They understand their strengths but do not neglect their weaknesses. They work their strengths wisely, acknowledging their weaknesses.
5. They need no motivation or encouragement to do what’s required. Why? Because they know that the forces working against them are more than those working for them.
#Stop waiting for tips or secrets. Work your own formula.
6. They are organised and know what to do per time. Seek to know what you need to do and most importantly, be determined to do what is required to make your life a significant one.
#Don’t be deceived; knowing and not acting is as good as not knowing at all
7. They understand the principle of saving. Ant does not save for the future, they know the future depends on it. If you spend everything you make, you are poor.
8. They don’t take any opportunity for granted. They are always ready to seize an opportunity to gather and save for winter.
9. They never complain about going out during winter. They have devised something positive out of the limitation. Don’t complain about things. Instead, ask yourself: how can I turn this complaint or reality into something that will profit me?
10. They are not afraid of hard work despite their little strength. They know it’s for a pay day, a just cause for the winter season.
#Hard work does not kill. Work hard, smartly.
11.They never lose sight of purpose/vision; hence, they are not distracted to join others to play or go on holiday in the summer season. They work while others enjoy.
#Work today and play later.
12.Today they are a reference point because over time, they have mastered, perfected what works for them.
